Rock and Granite

I recently started working with Procreate the way SEVERAL artists out there do! There's been a few learning curves to work around but, for the most part, I'm really enjoying it!

Part of that learning curve though involves spending some time on a thing only to not be happy with the final result... because I don't fully know what I'm doing just yet. Such is the case with this character poster for Wacky Races. I'm just not feeling it. Part of it is being a new to Procreate. Part of it is just my skill or lack thereof as an artist. I was also prepping for a colonoscopy while working on this. That definitely played a part as well.

I might make another attempt later on but, for now, I'm just going to post it and move on.

Reminiscing about Wacky Races while prepping for a colonoscopy. Old age is hitting weird, guys.

It's The Twelve Days of Penguin Suits!

There are at least two things I can think of that make me...well, merry - the Christmas season and Penguin Suits. That's right! Penguin Suits!

Since it is that wonderful time of year, I thought I'd celebrate by decking the blogspot halls with a different penguin in holiday-themed duds for every day leading up to Christmas! After all, which would you rather have - a Partridge in a Pear Tree or a Penguin in a Wig and Pants?!? Exactly!

Stick around, folks!

Yaaaaaaaaaaa Hoo Hoo Hooeeeeeey!!

A film that I've always been a little bit partial to is 1995's A Goofy Movie. While it's not the best movie ever made, it's definitely not the worst either! There's a lot of overdramatic angst for a movie about Goofy, but I can't help but enjoy it EVERY time I watch. I think the songs in this film are some of the catchiest show tunes that have ever come from a Disney movie! Not only that, but there's something I like about the concept of a father-son road trip being a made into a musical. Comforting is probably how I'd best describe it. Despite its many uncomfortable moments (that Max is a real jerk!) I get a nice sense of comfort watching it.

So... yeah. There you go. My two-cents worth on A Goofy Movie. You're welcome, internet!

Guuuuhhhh-Hyuk!

Fall Back MY SNORK!

I've never really been a fan of the fall season. This year, however, I came up with something to help ease my woes as we transition into the dreaded monotony of short days and long-sleeved shirts.

You're all like, "Whaaa? The Snorks?!? How oh how shall those mere underwater Smurfs from yore possibly provide solace in this bleak time of windbreakers and... brown things?" Well, I'll tell you, friends!

Every day for the first week of fall, you'll get to meet a different member of the Snork family... each with the refreshing new look that you can only get here at the ol' blogspot! You'll be so wrapped up in the vibrant wonder and splendor that is Snork Week, that you'll be completely oblivious to all of that flannel shirt and dormant grass crap. By the time you've awoken from this Snork-filled euphoria, voila!  It's Christmas Time! And who doesn't love Christmas time?

That's just one scenario, however. The more likely option is that you'll go, "Hmm. That's nice," and then get smacked upside the face by a chilly autumn "breeze."

See you in the fall, kiddos!

H is for Halloween

I'll get back to the Harry Potter stuff next week.

This being the week of All Hallow's Eve, or Halloween to all you sellouts, I thought I'd share this piece I made for a friend of mine.

He's a school teacher collecting alphabet art for his classroom (A is for Aquaman etc.) and requested I make him one for Halloween. Here's what I came up with.

For the little trick-or-treaters, I decided to use some original characters that have been bouncing around in my head for a couple of years but never really made their way to paper. I'll introduce you to them as I develop them more later on.

Hopefully my friend liked this, as I hope you do too. Happy Halloween!

The Cult Classic!

So just in case there's not already enough evidence on this blog of all the pointless things I like to do with my free time, this should do quite nicely. I grew up loving me some Disney Afternoon.

There's an episode of Chip n Dale's Rescue Rangers that has permenately lodged itself into my memory due to a catchy commercial jingle featured in the episode. It's titled "The Case of the Cola Cult" and features a group of mice that worship a soda-pop commercial. I thought it would be fun to design a poster for that soda. Here it is.

And in case you have no idea what I'm talking about, here's the scene from the episode that will probably be stuck in my head for the rest of time.

Obscure, right?!?

The Future IS Tomorrow!

I don't know if there has ever before been a poster promoting a video on YouTube. But as of this moment, there's at least three.

Just a little somethin-somethin for Number One Group Team Conglomerate.

Michelangelo is a Party Dude

Here's part two of my attempt at Saul Bass meets TMNT. For this installment, we have the one responsible for the phrase, "Cowabunga!" ...or at least the one responsible for its popularity.

I don't know. I'm not a vernacular historian. Is that even a thing?

Leonardo Leads

So aside from the fact that Saul Bass made awesome posters, he also had a cool name. Someone else with a cool name: the leader of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Leonardo. Incidentally, Leonardo was named for artist Leonardo da Vinci, who painted "The Last Supper" which depicted Jesus and a bunch of apostles. Jesus also had an apostle named Paul, who's original name was... wait for it... Saul.

Whatever. Here's some stuff I did.

Blog Postin' O' The Green

It's St. Patrick's Day! And to commemorate the occasion, here's a tribute to the Green Meanie we all know and love... The Wicked Witch of the West!

Incidentally, I'm wearing green underwear at the moment... but that has nothing to do with St. Patrick's Day.

Disney Afternoon

Here are some posters I designed and then added a distress effect... Maybe a little too much distress effect. :)
