Here's to the Halcyon!

Disney's Galactic Starcruiser sets off on its final voyage soon and, while I was never a passenger, the ship will always hold a special place in my heart. Here's a video where I talk about what the Halcyon, and specifically its crew, meant to me.

Third Season's a Charm

I felt like making another video. This won't become a regular thing... or, I don't know... maybe it will.

Like and Subscribe, You Will

I had a few thoughts about some of the announcements at this year's Star Wars Celebration and I thought, "You know what? I'm a video editor by trade. Rather than write a blog post, I'm going to sum it all up in a video."

DuckDoc

I recently finished a six week course in 2D animation. The following is what I was able to accomplish.

It's not much, but I'm proud of it. I used to want to be an animator and then went a different direction, but always kept a love for the genre... obviously. I'm definitely not looking to get a job in the animation industry any time soon, but it feels good to know that I've at least dipped my toe, ever so slightly in the field, and am capable of doing these things that I've always adored.

I hope to try my hand at more of this and continue to grow. Fingers crossed.

Huzzah!

Disneyland officially reopens today! I've been to Walt Disney World a couple of times in my life, but only once to Disneyland... well... so far!

While I enjoyed pretty much all the classic attractions, (Pirates of the Caribbean, it's a small world, etc.) the one that stood out as my absolute favorite was one that I don't hear talked about too often and certainly deserves a lot of praise! I'm referring to Storytelling at the Royal Theatre! For anyone who might not be aware, this attraction is located in the small Fantasy Faire section in an open air theater just to the left of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Each show is a 20 minute retelling of a famous Disney fairy tale (usually Tangled or Beauty and the Beast) but done so in fast-paced vaudeville fashion by the "loquacious lovers of legend and lore..." Well, here. I'll just show you.

I love this thing. You go in thinking it's just a quick recap of these classics that we've all seen a million times, but then you quickly realize it's waaaay more! There's gags, live piano, gags, the kind of obscure references that make you feel good when you notice, and all performed live by a small cast of incredibly talented people several times a day! And since I like to draw the things that I love, here's some Park Pals I made for the attraction.

I doubt that this show will be back when the park reopens, but hopefully the curtain will be going up for these versatile viscounts again... and soon!

Push to Close

Once you realize that Lorna Doone sounds a lot like Laura Dern, an entire universe of possibility opens up to you!

Care Bears: Endgame

My sweet wife would rather me tell her about the movies I see, rather than drag her to them. This works for me because I love recounting things in great detail without worrying about spoilers. After I told her about Avengers: Endgame, and that one scene in particular, she says without hesitation, "Sooo... like Care Bears? They do the Care Bears Stare?"

To which I respond...

"Yeah. Pretty much."

Then, I went and made this.

Sort of a Marvel DuckTales Mashup

Because sometimes it's just fun to make something dumb.

Here's a little something I did some simple animation for.

Cheepers?!?

I made these commercials for the city a couple of years ago. It's not quite Miyazaki... but I'm still proud.

My friend Sean Sanford did the awesome music track.

What did one snowman say to the other?

Here's a really simple animation I did for a comedy group me and some friends are trying to get rolling.
